Pledge for Rare on Rare Disease Day!

Every year, Sanofi Genzyme joins hundreds of organizations around the world to recognize International Rare Disease Day. Our annual campaign, Pledge4Rare, is aimed at bringing together our employees and the global rare disease community to raise awareness of the more than 7,000 different rare diseases collectively affecting more than 350 million people around the world. Pledge4Rare encourages people to run or walk a mile or more on Rare Disease Day in support of the rare disease community, and to share photos and videos on social media using the hashtag #Pledge4Rare.

Pledge your miles (or kilometers!) for Rare Disease Day below. There’s no limit to how many miles you log or how many times you pledge during the month. Last year we surpassed the goal of 7,000 miles in recognition of the 7,000 rare diseases. This year our goal is 10,000 miles! There is no cost to pledge your miles and anyone, anywhere in the world can participate.

About Rare Diseases

There are more than 7,000 different rare diseases, collectively affecting more than 350 million people around the world. Given their rarity, these conditions are often difficult to diagnose and treat. Patients can endure a long odyssey involving specialty doctors, tests, and misdiagnoses. They can go years or even decades without a correct diagnosis, all while suffering physically from complications of their disease and psychologically from not knowing what their condition is.

About NORD

National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), a 501(c)(3) organization, is a patient advocacy organization dedicated to individuals with rare diseases and the organizations that serve them. NORD, along with its more than 280 patient organization members, is committed to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders through programs of education, advocacy, research, and patient services. This year Sanofi Genzyme will make a donation to NORD in recognition of reaching our 10,000 mile goal.
